Zinnias, zinnias, zinnias!

On my Pinterest page I have a board of "Dishes I Covet." Metlox Poppytrail Zinnias has been on the board since I created it. First, I love the yellows and golds of the flowers, next I love the variety of greens and finally, I love the California pottery's other pattern Sculptured Daisy. Garlic City Auctions is a local auction site that I peruse and occasionally pick up pieces, my vintage Fiesta coffee pot for one. When the most recent auction popped up with this set of dishes, I had to bid. The bidding started at $5!!! I picked them up for a song, 34 pieces, all in great shape. I immediately washed them up and set a table with them.

These are such sunny pattern, even in the dead of winter! One of my favorite things about the California Potteries (Franciscan, Metlox, Bauer) is how well the colors mix with my Fiesta.

The plate stack uses different Fiesta bread and butter plates. Chartreuse, Butterscotch, Sage and the last was Daffodil. I think the Butterscotch and Sage went best, if I only had chargers in those colors!

The glasses are my Noritake Breeze and the Anchor Hocking Amber "Boopies." The set of dishes came with coffee cups and saucers and I set the table with them, which I never do. Many of the tablescape bloggers do, and since they were clean, I put them out with the sugar and creamer. The wood handle on the cups is so sweet, as is the lid on the sugar bowl!

The salt and pepper shakers with the set are so unusual, short and tall!

We ate dinner in the dining room, on the menu was lasagna -- two of them, meat and veg and a fresh baked loaf of no-knead bread.

The smaller one was the veg, filled with roasted veggies, Delicata Squash, peppers, onions, mushrooms and 4 kinds of cheese, the larger one is ground beef and Italian sausage and 4 kinds of cheese. Yum!

My suggestion for chargers is to find them at a Dollar store or 2nd hand at thrift stores, etc. Then spray paint them in the color of your choice. I've done this and if you get 'bored' you can add any embellishment to the rims.

I love everything about this! The dishes are fabulous but so is the green tablecloth and the yellow place mats. Makes me want it to be spring!
