'Twas the night before Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even me! The elves, we were busy, baking and wrapping. 13 kinds of cookies and other goodies! The cookies were baked and shipped with care, hoping even through the shipping delays, they'd be there by Christmas Day! Hubby on the ladder, #2 son in the tree, hanging outside lights for all the neighbors to see! And the house, oh it was decorated, the halls decked with jingle bells, holly and greens, not a single empty space to be seen!

Where to begin? Well, with the cookies of course! Elves Kissy and her hubby and I made Oatmeal Craisin Pecan, Persimmon Raisin, Pistachio, Aunt Fran's S's & O's, Biscotti, Grandma Kris's Chocolate Walnut, Grandma Pat's Wedding Cakes, Peanut Blossoms, Molasses Diamonds, Cuccidati, Chocolate dipped pretzels, Peanut Butter bars, Chocolate Peppermint Shortbreads. As well as "Puppy Chow" and Persimmon Breads.

Family, friends and neighbors will enjoy our baked delights!

Hubby and #2 Son outdid themselves decorating the outside of the house! Our entire street is decorated, we joke you can see it from airplanes flying overhead. When the boys were little and still playing hockey, the yard was decorated with a hockey goal, a snowman goalie and miniature Sharks players. Now, it's a winter wonderland, all white and blue with an inflatable snowman.

I admit it, I do go a little crazy with Christmas trees, we have, um, five. In my defense, three of them are small ones around the fireplace in the family room. And four of the five are not traditional... A hockey tree, a baseball tree, a football tree and our beloved Star Trek tree! Luckily for me, #1 son is tall and loves to help. He's great at putting lights on and reaching the tallest part of the trees! As you can see, I only have colored lights on the Star Trek tree. I really like white lights, but the old fashioned incandescent white lights with the warm white glow. I am not a fan of the new LED bright white lights!

The tree in the living room is by far my favorite! I love Christopher Radko ornaments, antique ornaments and ornaments from our travels!

Our living room tree has Radko garland, white snowflakes, candy canes, cherries, bows, icicles and birds in addition to all of the ornaments. I've got ornaments from my grandmothers, great grandmother, Russia, Italy and a fair amount of Grateful Dead ornaments! I may need to start a new Grateful Dead theme tree! The living room tree doesn't vary much year to year, some years I've added sprays of babies breath or picks with glittered styrofoam balls.

My next post will be my Christmas tablesetting, it's very special this year!
