The colors of Autumn must be celebrated!

There is another holiday, that is one of my favorites to decorate for, between Halloween and Christmas, it is Thanksgiving! I grew up in the 70's when everything was "Harvest Gold," "Burnt Orange" and "Avocado" green. I hated it! My first apartment was peach, aqua and off white, the next French Blue and yellow; who would have guessed as I got older I'd gravitate back to those same colors! Certainly not me! I do love all of the seasons, each has it's own beauty and colors! My favorite season is baseball, but that is another post!

I really didn't go all out Halloween decorating this year, first I couldn't find a tub of stuff -- the orange and black tubs? No Halloween stuff in those! (When I have a rainy Saturday I will one more time reorganize the tubs in the garage!) Nonetheless, while I had my favorite Halloween decorations up, it felt half done! So, November 1st, all the Halloween came down and Fall tubs were dug out to the garage and I began decorating.

The family room went together easily! I tried something new this year, I added the dough bowl full of gourds in front of the fireplace, I love it! A quick trip to Hobby Lobby took care of new fresh silk leaves for the mantle and finally, a swap out of Fiesta colors and a growing ceramic turkey collection on the shelves!

Next came the hallway and foyer, again, easy peasy! One of the things I love to do is swap out pictures on the wall with holidays / seasons. I love Fall watercolors and pick them up at antique stores, garage sales -- never expensive and always colorful! A bit of Fiesta, MacKenzie Childs sprinkled in and good to go!

So, what about the dining room and the centerpiece? At my local antique store a few years ago, I had purchased a scarf or shawl (I am not sure which it is) in Fall colors with the intent of using it for a Fall or Thanksgiving tablescape. It's muted browns, greens, golds, burgundies... vaguely equestrian patterned, but also leaves and mushrooms as well, right in my wheelhouse! Onto the dining room table it went... and it sat... I swapped the tablecloth underneath multiple times... I couldn't come up with an idea for a centerpiece. I searched on Pinterest, on blogs, zero inspiration... until I saw one with pheasant feathers. Then, I remembered while digging through my Fall tubs, I had faux pheasant feathers on picks that I had purchased at the Dollar Store, and inspiration hit! I ended up using my Grandmother's lace crocheted table cloth as the base for the table, it picked up the ivories in the scarf.

Pheasant feathers, sparkled fruits, leaves, pumpkins, candles and I just kept adding odds and ends and voilà! a centerpiece is born! I love the little pheasants in the basket tucked into the fruit and leaves!

When it was done, I couldn't leave this beautiful table bare -- with no dishes, and out came the Franciscan October!

As a thank you gift, friends of hubby gave us beautiful Estelle wine glasses in multiple colors; blush pink, rose, cobalt blue, lavender, mint green and yellow. The cobalt and lavender weren't used, but I absolutely love the different colors at each placesetting! The glasses have a beautiful ring to them. They are stunning! What wonderful friends to gift us these glasses!

The plate stack has a deep brown rattan charger, which really tied together the table, a Franciscan October dinner plate, an Amber Anchor Hocking "Swirl" bread plate, a October berry bowl. The napkins are doubled, a print one I think I purchased from Amazon?? and a white linen with a gold crocheted border from Pier One with a matching napkin ring from Franciscan. The silverware is Treble Clef from Cost Plus; it is such nice casual flatware, even it is hard to eat with! This place setting has the blush Estelle wine glass with an Amber Pier One stemless wine glass.

On the buffet behind you can see my Tom Turkey soup tureen, he standing guard over the table!

I am already planning my Thanksgiving table in my head, it will definitely feature my favorite pattern ever -- Royal Worcester Evesham Gold. Have I mentioned I love Fall?
