Poppies, Peonies and Persimmon

My three favorite flowers are (in order) 1) Lilacs 2) Poppies 3) Peonies. I believe I got the love of these three flowers from my Grandma Irene. Her yard in spring was stunning. I have an old picture of a part of her garden and in it you can see all three of my favorite flowers, although the peonies aren't in bloom yet.

To the left of the poppies she had beautiful gold yarrow. Her love of gardening and cooking lives on in me.

As a result, I have a lot of dishes with poppies, lilacs, flower on them. Today's breakfast was a tribute to Grandma Irene.

One of the Facebook groups I am a part of is the "I Love Fiesta" group. Every May, they host the "MayBC's" where the members post starting May 1 a Fiesta related picture starting with the letter "A", May 2 is "B" etc. The creativity of this group is off the charts!! The tablescapes are truly amazing!

The poppy plates are designed by Vera Neumann, I love her bold, colorful flowers! I have several different plates and assorted tablecloths and napkins from her. The plate is Shamrock Fiesta, Persimmon pyramid candle holders and a Bauer Madagascar vase in yellow. The table runner is a fun psychedelic print from Etsy. I made the napkin rings, the flowers were from IKEA and they were hot-glued to a shower ring. I bought the peonies yesterday at Trader Joe's, they were tight buds when I brought them home and overnight have started to open up!

Here is a poppy from the Dublin Botanical Garden. Happy, sunny flowers!

And to Grandma Irene... I believe this is her engagement picture. Thank you.
