To quote the late great Steve Goodman;
Baseball season's underway
Well, you'd better get ready for a brand new day
Hey, Chicago, what do you say?
The Cubs are gonna win today
It is is baseball season and so dear friend Kissy and I set a baseball table!

We love baseball! We are Chicago Cubs fans first, then San Francisco Giants fans after living in the Bay Area for more than 20 years. We observe many baseball rituals as the baseball season begins with Spring Training.
As part of our personal Spring Training, we have a lineup of baseball movies we enjoy. These include Bull Durham, Eight Men Out, Moneyball, Field of Dreams, The Natural, and Major League, and occasionally For Love of the Game or Angels in the Outfield. Our second son isn't a big baseball enthusiast, so it's usually my husband, our first son, and me who watch.

The person saying "There's magic in the ivy" was Chicagoland native, Pearl Jam singer, Eddie Vedder. If you've never been to Wrigley Field, it is indeed magical. My husband has been to all but one MLB ballpark, and I've been to well over 20; Wrigley is my favorite. As Giants fans, we do love Oracle Park in San Francisco. We typically tailgate two to three times a year at Oracle Park. As an FYI, I do tablescape tailgates.
We've been fortunate to see three World Series wins in San Francisco and Hubby saw in the World Series in 2016.
Building the plate stacks for this table was so much fun! I have several different types of baseball plates, including Homer Laughlin and Fishs Eddy. The dinner plate with the baseball seams is from Homer Laughlin; it is titled "Baseball 1811." You can find them on eBay or Etsy. The dinner plate with the pitching is also made by Homer Laughlin but for Fishs Eddy, an amazing dishware store in New York.
The charger is a faux wood charger from Hobby Lobby; we used it to echo the wood in a bat. Under the charger, we used a green placemat to remind us of the green grass that baseball is played on. We layered Fiesta bread and butter plates on top to add team colors. Several years ago, I had purchased the Cubs napkins off of Etsy and used our orange and black buffalo-checked napkins. No napkin rings were used, but we did place our faux World Series ring on one of the settings. We have boxes of plastic cups in the garage; of course, we had to use a plastic cup for the place setting.

When I was browsing on Mercari I came across that adorable baseball stadium, also made for Fishs Eddy. #1 son said is looked like Dodger Stadium, perhaps, nonetheless, it is so cute.

It was a fun table to set, I will definitely use the tablecloths again in a tailgate or perhaps for a World Series party? Football season isn't that far away, but I don't have any football dishes to set a Chicago Bears table... hmmm.
