Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Shamrocks, corned beef and cabbage, soda bread, Guinness beer and leprechauns! St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner and green is my favorite color, so it seems it would be a good time to set a table!

Fiesta is known for it's bright colors and usually I set a St. Patrick's table using the bright greens. For this year's table I decided to go another direction. I don't remember how long ago or where, but I found Royal Staffordshire J & G Meakin Avondale Transferware Rose Green. I've seen it other colors, blue, black and pink, but green is my favorite color... The green is very taupey green... not at all a bright green, but I don't think I've ever set a table with it.

I paired it with Fiesta chargers in vintage Forest Green, vintage Ivory, Sage and modern Chartreuse. The rest of the table colors were very subdued and I was pleased with the results.

Even the Chartreuse looks good!

The tablecloth is a dusty green and the round cloth on top is a slighter darker shade of the same dusty green. The round tablecloth layered on top pulled it all together. The placemats are ones we use all the time (I picked the clean ones for this table.) The napkins, I bought for Thanksgiving many years ago, but friend Kissy pulled those as a possibility and they worked!

The glasses are Noritake Breeze in green and the napkin rings came from a garage sale. A daisy tucked in each napkin added a bit of cheeriness! My everyday Mikasa Harmony silverware and a shamrock plant in the center, complete the table.

St. Patrick's dinner will be corned beef, cabbage, carrots and potatoes with a side of soda bread. I've never made it, but there is a first time for everything!

I leave you with this Irish proverb... "Never iron a four-leaf clover, because you don't want to press your luck!" Next table, I need to plan a bit more in advance and at the very least, iron the linens!
