Giving thanks for good friends and family

Updated: Dec 2, 2020

Thanksgiving was definitely a smaller affair compared to years past, but the food was delicious and the company was wonderful! Good friend Kissy and I had several ideas to set the table and in the end we used my Royal Worcester Evesham Gold china. I have always loved this pattern and it is the first china I started buying myself when I moved into my own place. I have added to it for years, finding it as TJ Maxx, on FB Marketplace and online. I have many different serving pieces, glasses and my treasured cream soup bowls.

We paired it with an amber depression glass salad bowl we found at the local antique store. The glassware is the infamous Dollar Store green glasses with a mix of amber Anchor Hocking bubble bottom glasses and another amber glass from the antique store.

Gold and maroon napkins from Pier One with brown organza layered on top held with gold leave napkin rings and a faux leaf finished the plate stack. The centerpieces were silver candlesticks (a wedding present and the first time I've ever used them!) and green depression glass candle holders. Flowers in Waterford crystal vases and Mr. Tom Turkey in the middle made it perfect! At dinner the candles were lit and a string of fairy lights made the table sparkle!

I always struggle with mixing gold and silver, the Evesham has a gold rim, the silverware is silver, the candle holders are silver, but I think this year it worked!

Here are few close ups of the table setting.

Every year we do the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot, this year we did it virtually! Kissy and I took the dogs and did 3.1 miles, not the traditional 3.2... but who is counting? We needed to walk to work off the meal we were about to eat!

As usual I made food for 80 people. We had gnocchi, lasagna, turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberries, mushrooms and onions, apple pie and pumpkin pie. We also made the cutest charcuterie tray!

We made pie crust leaves with pecans and craisins and used cookie cutters to cut them out, it turned out so cute! It was my first official use of the Nora Fleming Fiesta platter too!

Thanksgiving was a fun day with family and friends.
