April Showers bring Peach Blossoms

I've had this table in mind for a long time... or at least parts of it. I can't recall where I first came across the plates, but I loved them and pinned them to my "Dishes I Covet" board on Pinterest. The lovely blossoms remind me so much of spring! I originally planned to set this table for Mother's Day, but it quickly evolved into an Easter setting, which is just around the corner.

In my last post, I shared details about Metlox Poppytrail dishes, and this setting uses the "Peach Blossom" pattern for some of the place settings. Peach Blossom was produced for ten years, from 1952-1962. As I only have four dinner plates, my friend Kissy, who was my co-tablesetter, and I used my mother-in-law's Franciscan Desert Rose for the other two of the place settings. Coincidentally, the plate on top of the Desert Rose is also called "Peach Blossom," made by W.S. George.

As we were setting the table, we initially chose Flamingo and Persimmon Fiesta for the end place settings and decided on Flamingo. However, Kissy's husband entered the dining room, announced that the Fiesta didn't look right. We agreed with his assessment but weren't sure what to do next. I then tried Wedgwood Patrician, which had too much ivory, so I picked my mother-in-laws Franciscan Desert Rose, expecting it to be overwhelming, but it turned out to be perfect! Her husband agrees, the Desert Rose works!

While the tablecloth under the lace looks orange, it is actually a peachy pink, which was the inspiration for the table. We set the table Sunday evening, without much intent for it being overly Easter, but on Monday we were adding Easter decorations around the house and started adding to the table!

I love shopping my own house! The table runner is one I purchased from Home Goods a month ago, and it has been on the kitchen table since then. As soon as I put it on the table, I knew we could add more colors than just the ivory and peach. For the centerpiece, we used the Jade Fiesta vase with spring flowers that was on the dining room table. The forsythia, daisies, and peonies matched both the dishes and the runner. We added glass candlestick holders with green and white striped candles for a bit of whimsy.

On to the plate stacks! For the ends of the table, we started with a rose gold or coppery charger that I have had for years and not used. I love the color but could not figure out how to use them -- until I saw the peachy tablecloth! Next, the Franciscan Desert Rose plate and the W.S. George Peach Blossom bowl.

The side place settings featured Metlox Poppytrail Peach Blossom plates. We used pink Jeannette Cherry depression glass fruit bowls. Kissy double-layered the napkins with a pink hemstitched and embroidered white napkin on top of the place setting. The napkin ring is a playful, bright green beaded one that is also very versatile! The silverware is Danish Princess "Holmes & Edwards Inlaid IS." We mixed and matched Estelle wine glass colors in shades of pink, purple, gold, and green. The runner tied all the colors together perfectly! I recently ordered an Estelle mixed box where they selected the colors, although you can choose pastel or bold colors. I love the colors I received; they matched my existing set and will complement many tables beautifully!

We had to decorate the buffet and with the golds pulled into the table, I didn't need to swap out my Fiesta Marigold Soup Tureen!

I love Fitz and Floyd cookie jars, I have several for Christmas and Easter; the colors are beautiful, and they look so nice when displayed. Although I'm not usually a fan of pastels, during the Easter holidays, my house is filled with bunnies, ducks, and eggs in various pastel shades. These colors remind us that Spring is approaching!
