All about Christmas!

I admit it, Christmas snuck up on me this year. The older I get, the faster time flies by. Trite, I know, but it's true. In early November I was busy ordering Christmas presents online and then boom! it was December 23!

That all said, we did get a lot of cookies baked this year! Sous Chef Kissy and I baked up a storm over 3 days!

Cookies from top to bottom, left to right: Mexican Wedding Cakes, Chocolate Dipped Cara Cara Orange slices, Persimmon Walnut, White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut, Chocolate Marshmallow Popcorn, Cherry Pistachio Biscotti, Molasses Spice Diamonds, Chocolate Pretzels, Almond Shortbread with Sea Salt, Aunt Fran's S's and O's. Not pictured Italian Chocolate Walnut.

Our Christmas morning breakfast tradition is to make polish sausage with eggs. My family has done this since I have been a little girl (a long, long, long time ago!) I set a Christmas morning table using my Fiesta with my Christmas vans on two of the plates and Homer Laughlin Harvest transferware on the other four. It was an eclectic mix, but I was hungry!

The weekend before we made biscuits and sausage gravy (one of our favorites!) and set a table with Franciscan Ivy and plaids. I love my red truck with bottle brush trees! For other holidays I can remove the wreath in front and the sign on the side. In fall it was full of pumpkins.

Dear friends Kissy and BH came in Christmas Day morning so we opened presents Christmas Day after breakfast. The pups loved their presents! Both of the girls got Christmas outfits! Pattycakes got a sweater and Lola got a Christmas dress!

Christmas dinner was our traditional lasagna and pasta. For the sauce, I did a variation of the famous Marcella Hazan sauce. The original sauce is tomatoes, a whole onion and a stick of butter -- simmered all day. Instead, I caramelized shallots, carrots and celery, red wine and a stick of butter -- it was delicious! I will definitely try the original sauce in the summer with fresh tomatoes! We had salad and fresh baked rolls and that was dinner!

Hubby and I got married and December and I had already had plenty of china, so for our wedding I registered for Lenox Holiday. It is absolutely one of my favorite patterns! The plate stack started with a woven silvery gold-ish placemat, the Lenox plate, a clear glass Lenox and vintage holly napkins. The glassware is Emerald and Ruby Anchor Hocking bubble bottom glasses and Waterford Mourne ice tea glasses. The silverware is Towle Candlelight.

Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season and a very wonderful new year!
